TEHRAN CITY SEWAGE MICROTUNNELING IN THE MIRDAMAD ST .(PC)

This 8 km long tunnel (with a 3m finished diameter) conveys clarified water from the Cham Asseman Dam to Baba Sheykh Ali water treatment plant.

This 23 km long water transmission tunnel is the third such tunnel in the region (the first was completed in the 1930’s, and the second in the 1980’s) to transmit up to 255 million cubic meters of water from one of the branches of the famous Karun River to the arid central plains of Iran. The tunnel passes through some extremely complicated geological features such as seismic faults and karstic reservoirs with overburdens of up to 1300 meters.

This tunnel will serve as part of the power transmission network of the city of Esfahan, carrying the 230 kV cables from the First Islam Abad Power Plant. The tunnel is located between Esfehan university and Taleghani Post with total lenght of 4,000m . The project, which is excavated by a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), has been awarded in the framework of an EPC contract to Tablieh–Parhoon Tarh Joint Venture.
